ROTOTO's new category, 'ALLROUNDER,' has started this season.
Its long-awaited debut takes place in the natural surroundings of Denver, Colorado, a city nestled with a view of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Captured by photographer Tetsuo Kashiwada, it showcases authentic outdoor living.
FUNCTIONAL BEAUTY
今季デビューを果たした“ALLROUNDER”は、日常のアクティビティをサポートする〈ROTOTO〉の新カテゴリー。目指したのは、アウトドアやスポーツといったシーンに求められる機能性や堅牢性と街中でも映えるファッション性を兼ね備えた一足。文字通り、オールラウンドに活躍してくれる従来にない新しいソックスです。
「ユーザーから保温性と吸放湿性に優れたアウトドア用のメリノウールソックスを作って欲しいという声も多かったので、これを機に新しいシリーズを立ち上げようと思いました。例えば、ジムに履いていって、履き替えることなく、そのままワークアウト。アウトドア用、スポーツ用、普段履き用とシーンや用途でわけることなく、一足で完結するソックスを作りたいと思ったんです」とは、デザイナーの石井大介。
素材には家庭の洗濯機で洗える防縮メリノウール糸とナイロン糸をベースに使用。特殊な技術で外側はナイロン、肌に当たる内側にウールがくるように編み立てることで、肌あたりの良さを活かし、素材の摩耗を軽減する構造に。また、かかと部分には“Yヒール”と呼ばれる立体的な構造を採用することで、締め付けすぎないバランスのとれたフィット感を実現。その他、クッション性を計算した肉感、足の負担を軽減するアーチサポートなど、長時間着用しても疲れにくく、快適な履き心地を約束する本格的なディテールが満載です。
次回は雄大な自然に囲まれたコロラド・デンバーから舞台を移し、東京のストリートへ。今回の機能・素材の紹介に続き、後編は“ALLROUNDER”のデザインやカラーリングについて、ご紹介していきます！
"ALLROUNDER," which made its debut this season, is a new category from ROTOTO designed to support everyday activities. The goal was to create socks that combine functionality and durability for outdoor and sports activities while also being stylish enough for urban wear. These socks are truly versatile and offer something new that can be used in various situations.
Many users requested high-performance Merino wool socks for outdoor activities with excellent insulation and moisture-wicking capabilities. This inspired us to launch a new series. We aimed to create versatile socks suitable for gym workouts, outdoor adventures, and everyday wear, all in one pair," says designer Daisuke Ishii.
The socks are made from shrink-resistant Merino wool and nylon yarn, making them easy to wash in a home washing machine. Using a special technique, we designed the socks with nylon on the outside and wool on the inside for comfort and durability. The Y-heel structure at the heel ensures a balanced, non-restrictive fit. Plus, features like cushioning and arch support reduce fatigue, promising a comfortable fit even during long wear.

“ALLROUNDER”のバリエーションは、全3種。
“MERINO CREW”と“2 STRIPE MERINO CREW ”は、クッション性を考慮して足底をパイル編みに。
“MERINO ANKLE”は、あえてパイル編みを採用せず、季節を問わず快適に着用できるような肉感に仕上げています。
すべてのモデルにオリジナルタグとステッカーが付属。
The "ALLROUNDER" collection comes in three variations.
Both the "MERINO CREW" and "2 STRIPE MERINO CREW" feature a terry knit sole for added cushioning.
The "MERINO ANKLE," on the other hand, opts for a smooth texture that
ensures comfortable wear throughout the seasons.
Each model includes an original tag and sticker.
